Once in Gangtok, their host Paljor Lachungpa, Blue Sky Tours and Travels steamed up a memorable itinerary of fusion of Tibetan and Sikkimese culture grandeur for the tourists which started with an enchanting presentation by Gangjong Doeghar, a Tibetan Performing Arts from Kalimpong yesterday night at Hotel Himalayan Heights.
With worldwide performances under its belt, Gangjong Doeghar dished out a regal presentation of Tibetan culture of songs, dances and music including an Opera that fetched loud applauses from the foreign tourists.

“They (tourist group) had booked a trip to Tibet but could not go as Tibet is presently banned for foreigners. So they came here as Sikkim has become an alternative destination for scenic beauty and unique culture,” said Lachungpa. View full report on www.nenanews.com

“I would have loved to go to Tibet but I am very happy to see Tibetan culture here in Sikkim,” said a German tourist.

Once again Tibet India Foundation is successful in participating Kalaghoda arts of Festival in Mumbai Feb 02-09-2008 with Gangjong Doeghar from Kalimpong and Two renowed Artistist Tenzin Dawa and Chokey of Sempa joined the programme and won over the hearts of Mumbaikars this year too. . .

The Dalai Lama believes that Mumbai, the commercial capital of India, is a truly global and multi cultural city. He feels that there is a need to build a cultural bridge. This bridge comprising of Tibetan culture and Buddhist Philosophy should be shared between the citizens of Mumbai and the Tibetan community. Against this background, this part of the Kalaghoda festival titled Nine Days in Tibet is being organized by the The Tibet India Foundation and supported by the Indian Aesthetics Alumni. The Dhuk- which is a religious umbrella used by the Tibetan high lamas will be the Mascot of the festival.

Kala Ghoda 2007 Mumbai

Nine Days in Tibet..This year, Mumbai's Kalaghoda festival from February 3 till 11 will transform Mumbai's art district into mini Tibet. The area will be festooned with vibrant Tibetan Prayer flags. The sound of music of Tibet amidst the radiating glorious lanterns amongst numerous Tibetan events will bring a feeling of a carnival to the city.

Festival “TIBET: traditions, art, philosophy” took place in autumn 2004 and was a great success. In 2005 it had its continuation. On July,2nd , 2005, within the frames of the festival, over again Tibet House Moscow organized the concert in Moscow International Performance Arts Center on Red Hills. The program of the concert included overtone chanting of Gyudmed monks, Songs and Dances of the Tibetan plateau by "Gangjong Doeghar" (Kalimpong, India) and also famous artists from the Buddhist republics of Russia: Kalmykia, Buryatia and Tuva. Special guest of the festival concert is Boris Grebenschikov. The concert took place on the jubilee year, when all over the world 70 years anniversary of the spiritual leader of Tibet His Holiness Dalai-lama XIV was celebrated.

'Dances of the Yaks: A Tibet Evening' was organised by Friends of Tibet (India) at the Sujata Sadan, Calcutta, West Bengal on November 27, 2005.

The Tibetan dance and music extravaganza in Calcutta, capital of West Bengal inaugurated by Popular Bengali film actress-painter Ms Piu Sarkar. Dances by Gangjong Doeghar Dance troupe, Kalimpong and the screening of the documentary - 'Escape from Tibet'.
